Fordson Dexta and Fordson Major Grilles

Modern Methods for Classic Needs

Reverse engineered in house using laser scanning 3D technology we have recently taken delivery of over 1000 Grilles manufactured in the UK.

Faro Arm operator takes several passes over the original sample to ensure that every detail is captured, the laser line takes thousands of measurement points and forms them into a ‘Point cloud’. The information can be then transferred to our CAD system.

Once the data is imported, we can clean up any imperfections. We then use the software to draw around the original part to form a ‘Solid Body’. The face of this is then converted into a DXF file which is sent to the manufacturer.

The manufacturer then uses this file to punch out the original profile from the mesh, he then works on the tooling to form smooth edging, light hole and mounting bracket. Finally, the assembly is spot welded into place.

Once first off samples have been made, the supplier sends these to our in-house product development team who test fit the samples on both original and aftermarket components to ensure the perfect fitment.
